Wood Lake Day Trips
Escape the wilderness of Northwind Lodge and go in deeper for a day! Many of our cabin guests make it a point to go fishing at Wood Lake which is in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area. We have boats for rent out there. You have to carry your gear and the oars for a 210 rod portage (rod is 16.5 feet) and then row a boat into this pristine wilderness experience. In the BWCA, there are no motors allowed of any kind and there are no structures or buildings and nor have any ever been there, ever. Plus, the walleye fishing there can be very good along with all other species. It makes a great day trip and you'll feel like you been doing something when the day is done. It's a good feeling.
